Is dcache the cause of the trouble or is Mr. Slab?

Which came first.. the new dcache or the new slab allocator? I don't remember
that much about the 2.1.3x series but I think that is when the "fun stuff"
with dcache started. Based on what came in when, we might be able to start
blaming the 'rusting' problem... ;-)

What I remember, is that the first "new" version of the dcache absolutely
hauled ass, but it had a number of bugs that caused corruption.. didn't it
have a 3-levelish cache built into it? Then Linus threw a hissy fit and
wrote his own.

I'm a bit foggy on the matter but I remember being damn excited on the
performance of that dcache code.
