oopses, ksymoops, libiostream

As I reported earlier, my system is oopsing like crazy under recent kernels,
and when I have tried to compile ksymoops it blows up. I suspect this may
have to do with the fact that my /usr/lib/libiostream.a is very old:

ls -l /usr/lib/libiostream.a
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 599400 Oct 30 1995 /usr/lib/libiostream.a

But I don't know where libiostream comes from or where I can go to get
source so I can compile a newer one. I tried several search engines, the
Linux Software Map, and even checked a couple pretty new Redhat systems I
have access to, and could not locate ANY libiostream, let alone a newer one.

Where does it come from and where can I get a newer one so I can file a
proper bug report on these oopses?

Thanks...

Michael
