Hi,

I know a lot of people asked me to read How TO s and man pages. Yes, I
did that.
(so, newbie or not..I did my lessons. I ve read what I had to..but that
was not clear..)
Still confused..
Here s my problems:
I wanna install Linux , from scratch, into my "CD-less" portable.
So, here I am trying following steps: (pls..dont tell me that I should
not try following stuffs..that I have just to load the install from
Lan..or from a dial up connection):
All I want is to have you guiding me through following steps:

Step I.) I ve created a bootdisk (yes, bootdisk HOW TO helped me for
that).
I wanna put a kernel on that bootdisk (well, all man pages and How TO
werent clear to me on that..)..so, to put the kernel is my main problem
here. Is it automatically done when the bootdisk was created..or what
file ..or command should I do ..to have kernel on it..

Step II.)How to create and Install a Ram disk Image pls? Put a Ram disk
image on floppy: how to??(could nt find it, clearly xplained in man
pages and How TO`s).

Step III) So, I put the Ram disk image on floppy just after kernel. If
you help me for steps I and II, I guess I could do that. But How to
create and Install a Ram disk Image pls?? (couldnt find it in How to
s)..if in doubt, pls have a look at the closest response I found in the
Bootdisk How TO: "In some boot situations --- often when booting from a
diskette --- the root filesystem is loaded into a
ramdisk, which is RAM accessed by the system as if it were a disk. There
are two reasons why the
system loads to ramdisk. First, RAM is several orders of magnitude
faster than a floppy disk, so system
operation is fast; and second, the kernel can load a compressed
filesystem from the floppy and
uncompress it onto the ramdisk, allowing many more files to be squeezed
onto the diskette. "..

Thanks for help.
