I think this is something which is missing in Linux, a system test. There is
no program to test memory, simple CPU tests, simulate load, etc under Linux.
It's quite hard to make sure a kernel is stable enough to run as a
production machine.

Right now in front of me I've got:

PC Chips M720 Dual PII 266
Brandless 256 Megs SDRAM
Buslogic 248
SMC EtherPower
Diamond Stealth 64

I'd love to be able to test the hardware as well as the software...
