No... you can just re-run the ./configure from your kernel 2.0.30 src
directory and enable the network card support when the option comes around.
If you've run config before, you can most likely just press enter for all of
the options except the ones you want to change (like network card support).

Also, there is no problem with jumping kernel versions (i.e., 2.0.30 -
2.0.34). It should work perfectly fine as long as it's configured right.
