No I haven't, not yet anyway. I am in general very reluctant to "try"
new kernels on production machines ;-). I only do it in secret at night
and when nobody knows about it ...

It looks like a kernel leak. That I am not seeing this on other
machines compiled from the same code with the same compiler (2.8.0,
though now I am testing the 2.7.2 compiled version) indicates that the
leak probably only acts when something is compiled into the kernel
instead of being loaded as a module.

All that fits that bill is the fact that it boots scsi, using the Buslogic
driver, also has aic7xxx support compiled in, and has minix as well as
ext2 support compiled in (I don't believe in separate kernels for rescue
and boot diskettes, and it also has ramdisk and initrd support, and
binfmt_aout ..). It also has bridging (not presently active) compiled
in.

If the leak is common to 2.0.25 and 2.0.33, it must be an interesting
one.

I am deeply suspicious of the network code (as always ..) as being the
culprit in conjunction with a compiler bug. But it could be something
else.

I append the .config, for good measure. Glancing through it right now I
notice a couple of network config oddities.

I appreciate your having taken the time to respond.
