Hmm. It may be time to fiddle with the system and enlarge the swap
partition to 128MB - but that won't be easy given the dearth of ext2fs
resizing utilities (However PartitionMagic 4 may include this; I for one
will definitely be buying an upgrade if it does).

I agree. That is the basic premise behind using Linux and not some
overbloated and inefficent operating systems from a certain city in the
Northwest of the United States... :o)
