Hi.

The new console stuff in 2.1.107 has several problems.

I have a AMD K6/200, Matrox Mystique 2MB (170Mhz DAC), libc5, gcc-2.7.2.1.
I have configured the kernel WITHOUT CONFIG_FB.
I still start the kernel with vga=6 (80x60).

I have configured my Award bios so it does DPMS Off when
doing APM blanking. This worked in all releases from 2.1.9x up to 2.1.106.

Problems:
- The console driver is much slower than before.
While I was barely able to distinguish parts of text scrolling
by in 2.1.106 I am now nearly able to read the text while it is
scrolling by.

- The VESA/APM blanking stuff is broken.
It blanks, yes. But it does not correctly unblank. If I have
X running I can switch to X and the monitor switches itself on
again. If I switch back to a textconsole the text-vsync looks
completely off and the monitor blanks again.

- If I enable CONFIG_FB, configure in the VGA FB and the VESA FB,
I am no longer able to boot Linux. Well, it boots, but I cannot
see anything. However, this might be a problem with the Mystiques
VESA Bios.

Ciao, Marcus
