You currently can't attach 9 mice to a standard PC, so what's the
problem? At least my proposed methodology would *possibly* support
8. With USB, 9 mice on your USB might be *possible*, but highly
unlikely.

I limited the number of device types to 2^5, or 32. Where are you
pulling the number *4* from?
I can't think of more than about 8-9 type of devices that we'd
want to support, but at least with room for up to 32 device-types,
I think that's plenty.
