CONFIG_IP_ROUTER

This question applies to using the IP Chains firewalling in Linux 2.1.102+.

Should CONFIG_IP_ROUTER (IP: optimize as router not host) be used on a
system that will only route via masquerading? It seems to work either way,
but which is more efficient?

I ask this because masquerading isn't really true routing, especially when
you consider that I use CONFIG_IP_ALWAYS_DEFRAG to always defragment
received packets...

Please CC responses to my email address because I am not on linux-kernel.

Thaks,
