Just booted up BeOS.
It does the non verbosity thing very correctly.

It says ...

Booting BeOS ....
Booting kernel ....
Intializing I/O ....
etc ...

and then bewm your in a GUI.
take this, and add a logo and we have a winner.

PS -
dont use gif. (C) problems
consider png or jpg
