I can't get it to work either. Mine dies (differently!) thus:-

... (stuff omitted after make menuconfig) ...
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/scripts/lxdialog'
/bin/sh scripts/Menuconfig arch/i386/config.in
Using defaults found in arch/i386/defconfig
Preparing configuration scripts: version, functions, parsing

and there it hangs until I press ^C.

It seems to have problems with the awk acript "parser1", or at least if
I put echo statements in, they stop at this point.

2.1.101 make menuconfig works without a hitch. Darned if I can see what
the difference is... :-(

binutils 2.9.1.0.4, ncurses 4.2, gcc 2.7.2.3, awk 3.0.2, glibc 2.0.7 on
RedHat 5.0. Dual PII, running kernel 2.1.101.
