Hi, all. Version 29 of my devfs patch is now available from:
http://www.atnf.csiro.au/~rgooch/kernel-patches.html
The devfs FAQ is also available here.

The only change in this version is that devfs now supports automagic
generation of device numbers. This will allow drivers to support large
numbers of discs while still allowing userspace programmes like <find>
and <tar> to determine when they cross filesystem boundaries. The FAQ
and Documenation/filesystems/devfs/README contain a discussion of the
issues here.
"All" that remains now is for drivers to use the scheme, and we can
have thousands of SCSI discs without changing userspace.

This is against 2.1.97. Highlights of this release:

- Added DEVFS_FL_AUTO_DEVNUM flag

Regards,

Richard....
