gated for 2.1.xx ?

Did anybody succeed with gated under 2.1.9x kernels? 3.5.8 starts OK, adds
routes for lo: aliases but fails to announce them to ospf complaining that
"the host mask is not zero" or something alike... 3.6_Alpha2 simply dumps
core on startup in krt_init()...

Does anybody know whether gated guys do intend to release something "free"
running on 2.1.xx (and on 2.2.x)? I can't try 2.1.98+ in a heavy duty
production environment without gated, I do really need ospf...
