Hi there..

First of all I've been getting those yucky looking messages in the logs
that I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with..

Heres a data point to note, I can ping the addresses which consistently
give tcp checksum errors, but if I try to traceroute, it usually gets so
far and goes * * * (as in icmp is blocked or something).

Is this a bug in linux ppp? Or in other ppp implementations? Or routers
even?

Also, heres the ppp part of my ifconfig.

ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:203.108.221.58 P-t-P:203.108.221.14 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:733 errors:81 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:80
TX packets:746 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0
Memory:c03d101c-c03d1be8

I get this on my amd 386dx40 which i'm using as a ppp/masq gateway.. I do
NOT see these frame errors in 2.0.33, and I DO have 16550 uarts. The total
number of errors is ALWAYS 1 more than the number of frame errors, and i
seem to have an error count of 1 as soon as I've logged in..

Cheers,

Dave.
