knfsd exports

I am trying to use knfsd. When I execute the kexportfs
command, I get

exporting aspc12.as.arizona.edu:/
aspc12.as.arizona.edu:/: Invalid argument
exporting /:aspc12(rw,no_root_squash)

My /etc/exports contains the line

/ aspc12(rw,no_root_squash)

This /etc/exports file worked under the user nfsd. What do
I need to do?
