[Slightly offtopic] Intel Aries chipset?

OK. I recently acquired an AST machine with a most interesting motherboard.
It's a 486 motherboard with a built-in video adapter on it (Cirrus Logic)
and PCI. Most of the documentation hasn't been much help. The only hints
came from Linux's /proc/pci.

Such as:

Bus 0, device 8, function 0:
VGA compatible controller: Cirrus Logic GD 5434 (rev 142).
Fast devsel. IRQ a.
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfd000000 [0xfd000000].
Bus 0, device 5, function 0:
Non-VGA device: Intel 82430ZX Aries (rev 2).
Medium devsel. Master Capable. No bursts.

Aha! Figured out the chipset.
Problem is, Intel's site has 0 information on it and it seems to be
acting like a buggy IDE chipset. 'hdparm -c1' makes the controller go
ballastic.

So, what I'm basically asking is, can someone point me towards some
documentation on this beast of a chipset? Should I enable RZ1000 stuff in the
kernel? It's definitely not those awful CMD chipsets either.
