If I remember right, Rockwell and various other WinModem makers are kind-of
NDAish about those type of modems. I'd certainly hope anyone that uses linux
would have the common sense to avoid those POS gimmicks.

This is off the topic at hand but just a personal comment here. I'm not
too keen on the current trend of nuking perfectly valid hardware and sticking
the 'features' in software just for the sake of saving a few bucks.

Two of the biggest ones I can think of are WinModems and the upper 32 voice
support on the AWE64.

You could always expand the functionality of 'gpm'.
