My question is: which versions of the kernel and the ISDN patches did you use, because maybe some of them do not work all that good together.

There are other changes above the isdn drivers layer.
I recommend that you try to upgrade ipppd.
It is part of the isdn4k-utils. Find it in
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/isdn4linux/v2.1 .
