Correction: your system is unstable in 2.1.85. Cause unknown.

Well.. try a non-SMP kernel then. I did receive other reports a few
weeks back that newer SMP code was broken for some drivers, including IDE.

After a unit reset, the hardware should no longer be "Busy".
Something other than the IDE software is causing this condition.
