OOPS with 2.1.8[24] and AHA-2940 SCSI adapter

I get a oops when the aic7xxx driver is probing for scsi devices. I
have no problems in 2.1.79, but in both 2.1.82 and 2.1.84 (I did not try the
rest 2.1.8[01] (compile problems?) and just didn't try .83) it crashes. The
kernel dumps so much that I can't get back to what it prints right after it
crashes, and since my root partition is on this controller, I can't get any
other logs. I think it might be some NULL pointer or something.
