Hum, ide-cd as module works for me in last ten or so 2.1 kernels.
Iwill mobo with Toshiba 4x CDROM.

Now kinda of bug report, .82 hung twice in the last 24 hours with
nothing in logs and with no apparent reason !
Everything was stone dead.

and btw, I still haven't been able to activate my ide channel
on nonPnP AWE32 ... :]
