^S/^Q causes complete halt.

With version 2.1.70, _SMP_, attempting to throttle output to the
terminal with ^S/^Q will sometimes cause a complete system halt.
No interrupts, nothing... I can't make it happen on my non-SMP machine
running the same kernel version.

Is this "known"? Has it been fixed in a later kernel? If it is not
known, will someone else with a SMP machine please try it.
