I patched 2.1.74 and tried to compile:

/usr/src/linux/include/linux/ipsec.h: In function `ipsec_sk_policy':
In file included from sock.c:124:
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/ipsec.h:54: structure has no member named
`authentication'
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/ipsec.h:56: structure has no member named
`encryption'
sock.c: In function `sock_getsockopt':
sock.c:470: structure has no member named `authentication'
sock.c:474: structure has no member named `encryption'
sock.c:478: structure has no member named `encrypt_net'
make[3]: *** [sock.o] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/net/core'
make[2]: *** [first_rule] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/net/core'
make[1]: *** [sub_dirs] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/net'
make: *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2

On top of that I get the following messages when doing 'make dep':
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/pi2.h is empty
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/pt.h is empty
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/coda_namecache.h is empty

What does that mean?
