error 0x80

hi,

after an upgrade (mb+cpu) to a VX chipset w/ 512kb cache and Pentium
200MMX I couldn't boot the linux box... :-( it says loading linux.......
and after a few seconds error 0x80 I could boot it only after I disabled
internal cpu cache. the linux box has an adaptec aha2940 scsi controller
and 128mb ram. a weird thing: I could boot (from floppy) a kernel without
scsi support!

got any ideas?
