SMP kernel panic, kernel ver 2.0.32, Intel MP v1.1/v1.4

kernel ver 2.0.32 compiled with 'SMP = 1' and 'SMP_PROF = 1' (lines
uncommented in Makefile).

boot messages:

------

System froze and I had to do a hard reset and boot from
good kernel.

Recompiled kernel without SMP profiling ('SMP_PROF = 1' commented out in
Makefile). Installed the new kernel, and rebooted. So far (11 hourses
according to uptime) it seems to be working fine.
