2.0.32 end_request: buffer-list destroyed & SMB oddities

Hi all,

These do not seem a friendly message to be getting. A few details:

Syetem is acting as a firewall (no NAT compiled in at the moment).

At the time it was mirroring RedHat 5.0 from Sunsite UK to a partition
mounted via SMBFS on a machine behind the firewall.

It also has a cdrom (hdc) with 4.2 mounted for anon-ftp access currently
(until the 5.0 mirror is complete and I can burn a new CD).

The 4.2 cdrom should be in iso format, but it's the first CD I wrote with
my writer, and it's (remotely) possible that the Adaptec software is
buggy, and that is what is causing the hdc errors (or just the time take
for the drive to spinup when the CD is accessed?).

>From syslog:

As an aside, when the smb server (NT box) reboots, I quite repeatably get
the following in my syslog when I try to access the mount point:

Dec 10 13:38:59 pc12 kernel: smb_get_length: Invalid NBT packet
Dec 10 13:38:59 pc12 kernel: smb_dont_catch_keepalive: server->data_ready
== NULL
Dec 10 13:38:59 pc12 kernel: smb_dont_catch_keepalive: server->data_ready
== NULL
Dec 10 14:00:31 pc12 kernel: eth0: Tx timed out, cable problem? TSR=0x6,
ISR=0x0, t=28.
Dec 10 15:20:26 pc12 kernel: smb_dont_catch_keepalive: server->data_ready
== NULL
Dec 10 16:43:17 pc12 kernel: smb_statfs: dskattr error = 5
Dec 10 20:06:40 pc12 kernel: smb_statfs: dskattr error = 5

This must have been some problem during the mirroring though I don't know
what caused it:

Dec 10 22:42:25 pc12 kernel: smb_put_inode: could not close
Dec 10 22:42:25 pc12 kernel: kfree of non-kmalloced memory: 018d9018,
next= 00000000, order=4

The box does still appear to be running, but I'll probably reboot it once
the mirroring has finished.

Regards,

Mark
