2.1.57 dead

2.1.57 dies when mounting large local filesystems (4GB and 12GB)
after checking them during multiuser startup or when filling up swap
running an incrementally mallocing process.
No kernel comment follows this sudden death.

Is this the same problem area as with 2.0.>28 mm thing?

Any ideas?
