i got a kernel-error: kernel: VFS no free inodes - contact linus
then the system hangs
I have already asked this in different mailinglists, but nobody answered
till now.
Because of this "contact linus", i think i have a situation, which isn't
normal.
So i also mailed to Linus Torvald to his emailaddress from the credits-file
in
/usr/src/linux, but here i got an automatic message,
that linus will read this not very often, so i need an address from linus
which he WILL read.
This problem is urgent, because its a machine from our developers and this
error occurs once a day.
May be the solution is very simple ( e.g. increase a certain value in a
header-file ).
Hardware:
P200, 256 MB Ram, 8 GB raid ( ift3000-scsi2-controller ), 2940uw for the
raid, ncr 815 for streamer, cdrom, jaz
only one partition on the raid
Software:
kernel 2.0.31-pre9
currently 4 - 5 little databases for an industrial visualisation-software
which causes a hugh amount of read/write-accesses on the raid.
Could anyone give me a hint ????????
