pre-7 causes squake to segfault

I know this has been reported once before, but I thought I would report
it again so that everyone knows it wasn't a fluke. I inflicted pre-7
on one of my quake-playing friends, and squake immedately dumps core
for him. I tried another svgalib program (hatman) on my system (also
running pre-7) and it works fine, so I'm guessing that it doesn't have
to do with svgalib.
