No. The nested extended partitions are there only to show the
remaining space after a logical partition.

Each extended partition has a partition table with one logical
partition which shows up as /dev/hda*. All but last extended partition
have also another extended partition within it. The nested extended
partitions are not accessible (except through /dev/hda which is the
whole disk) since they are there only for the one sector containing
the partition table.

You do not need to worry about this techical detail with fdisk
programs. You just create logical partitions inside one extended
partition, just like you create logical partitions inside a BSD
partition. Extended partition looks and feels to you just like the BSD
partition.
