As a data point (which sounds a lot better than "me too" :), mine says

PIIX3: bus-master IDE device on PCI bus 0 function 9
ide0: BM-DMA at 0xe800-0xe807
ide0 master/slave: sample_CLKs=3, recovery_CLKs=1
master: fastDMA=yes PreFetch=on IORDY=on fastPIO=on
slave : fastDMA=no PreFetch=off IORDY=off fastPIO=off
hda: QUANTUM BIGFOOT_CY6480A, ATA DISK drive
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
hda: QUANTUM BIGFOOT_CY6480A, 6204MB w/67kB Cache, LBA, CHS=13446/15/63, DMA

ASUS dual P166, IDE onboard, 2.1.44-pre3 SMP. 2.0.30 also reports 67kB
cache. Could be your CHS mapping confusing the probe code.
