Possible kernel bug

Hello all,
I tried to send this a couple of days ago, and have not seen it show
up. I have been having mail problems, so I am sending it again. My
appoligies if you get it twice.
I have discovered that working in memory mmap()ed from files can lead
to really poor performance. I have put more details and a test program
at:

I would appreciate it if someone who knows how the interactions between
mmap() & sync() are supposed to work would look at them. Also, the
test program caused my 2.1.43 kernel to crash, so it may also be of interest
to people on that account.
