irq timeouts

I recently replaced my old AMD 5x86 motherboard and cpu with an Abit IT5H
motherboard and an AMD K5-PR166 cpu. Now, when my sound card is playing
audio, i often get the following messages:

hdc: irq timeout: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
ide1: reset: success

the harddisk will sit frozen for several seconds before the reset occurs,
at which point the system returns to normal.

The harddisk setup is this:

ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
hda: WDC AC31600H, 1549MB w/128kB Cache, LBA, CHS=787/64/63, DMA
hdc: Maxtor 72004 AP, 1916MB w/128kB Cache, LBA, CHS=3893/16/63, DMA

And the soundcard:

MS Sound System at 0x530 irq 11 drq 0,0
Roland MPU-401 at 0x330 irq 5 drq 0
OPL-2/OPL-3 FM at 0x388 drq 0

I am only using the audio device (the first one) when the problem occurs,
and I have tried various irq/dma settings with no improvement.

Any ideas about what is causing this or a way of fixing the problem?
