proc/pci stats corruption

Hi,

I don't know if this is of any interest or importance, but I've noticed
that the proc/pci stats on my machine get corrupted after I run xfree on
Linux 2.0.30. This didn't happen under 2.0.29. I haven't experienced any
other instabilities, although my machine is used mostly as a WWW server,
and is rarely stressed. The computer is a HP Vectra XU 5/1xx. I did have
another odd problem, which dissapeared after a patch, which shouldn't have
had anything to do with it, but when I did a shutdown, the computer would
fail the self test, claiming a bad processor among other things. Had to
reset to clear the errors.
