The idea (at least originally) was that 2.0.x would continue to have
significant updates of stable code. However, at some point (assuming
it turns out to be stable, 2.0.31 would hopefully be such a point),
2.0.x maintainence, except for bugs and major security things,
should kind of die off as developers put more energy into 2.1.x
so we can eventually see 2.2.

However, having said that, they synflood protection (which alone
most likely broke linux-afs) is a MAJOR security fix. In fact,
if it wasn't for the synflood protection being available, I would have
had to convert several machines to something synflood-resistant (i.e. BSDI),
at a considerable cost to the owners of the machines.

However, after the fs/inode.c fixes in 2.1.31, i do agress that,
at least on intel, we should try to maintain module compatability.
btw, do you know of any binary-only modules besides afs/linux and
oss?
