2048 bytes sector

I have a question concerning MO-disks and linux.
I have a MO Fujitsu drive which is able to work with 640 Mb removable MO disks.
Contrary to the previous MO disks, the 640 Mb has a sector length of 2048 bytes.
I tried to access the disk with linux, but it seems linux 2.0.xx does
not support a sector size of 2048 bytes.
Are you going to release a new version of Linux which is able to
support such sector size?
