Error in symbol table

To those that are having problems with `error in symbol table'
messages from klogd and friends: it would appear that this is
(or at least also can be) caused by a bug in libc 5.4.23.
fscanf() is not treating %x formats properly. That explains
why I noticed it shortly after upgrading my library.
