Could finger ftp.kernel.org give current kernel version?

It would be nice if ftp.kernel.org (aka linux.kernel.org) would
have the same finger service as the helsinki kernel site. I.e.
replying with the current stable and development versions of the
kernel.
Btw.
Who is maintaining that site?
