Hmm, I might be weird, but I look at the raw /proc/net/snmp
files quite often for debugging purposes. Shrug.

In any case, for what it's worth, sysctl is a nice programmatic
interface which is immune to the addition of new fields, and saves
you the trouble of parsing.
