I've been getting the same symptoms for the last three or four kernel
revisions, except that in my case it's unsupported message byte 128
(same TMC850 card). I just assumed that my hardware was getting
flakey, so I patched sd.c so that instead of panic'ing, it would reset
the SCSI bus. Once in a blue moon, I'll get into a state (on startup)
where the kernel loops on those messages for hours (until I hard reset
the machine). Otherwise, I get the occasional message, but the CDROM
works fine. The only down side is that trying to use my old 40MB Apple
(Quantum) SCSI drive (as a 40MB swap space) causes looping forever
(along with really high system load :).
