Multiprocessing on AMD and Cyrix/IBM processors

Hi,

I know that there is no current hardware to support multiprocessing on the
AMD or Cyrix/IBM processors.

What I wondered was, if hardware became available, does anyone know if a
rewrite of the OS multiprocessing sections will be necessary?

As an aside, does anyone know if the 6x86 optimisation patches are likely to
be included in the official kernel tree?
