Well, one thing to remember is that ext2 is not the only file system
that linux supports. How well is xiafs these days? And Minix will work
if you don't need long filenames.

Of course very few people run these on much other than boot disks,
so they could conceviably have bugs that have not been found,
since they have not been as stress tested.
