Problem with booting large SCSI fixed

Ok, so I stayed a while longer, hoping I would find the answer in a
desperate search against the urge to fall asleep (i would hate to go home
without getting it to work)..
And I found it
It turned out the BIOS was disguising the true drive geometry from LILO (I
had forgotten LILO works through BIOS (why is that?)).. So as soon as I
turned it off, sure enough, it boots up fine. While I was at it I turned
off Plug and Pray Scam support (I guess the guys at Adaptec know what its
really about:)
Anyhow, sorry for the bogus message, and thanks in advance to anyone who
helps without seeing that I fixed it first..
