gprof dumps core

Hi there!

I'm using binutils 2.7.0.9 and gprof dumps core no matter what I do to the
executable file under investigation.

I'm running linux 2.0.29 using and Intel PPro.

I did compile and link with the -pg option.

Any hints ?
