Have you tried the latest 3c59x.c from http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov ? the
3c59x.c in the 2.0 kernel distribution is sort of outdated. I have a 2940U
and a 3c905TX running fine in the same machine with 2.0.29, it also worked
fine in 2.0.27.
