AMD K5/K6?

I'm curious what the general impression of the AMD K5 and soon-to-be-out
K6 chips in reference to Linux kernel performance/overall Linux performance?

I vaguely remember there was talk that the AMD chip needed special 'prodding'
to do certain Pentium instructions properly?

You always see Cyrix 686's everywhere and no K5's. I've been real impressed
with AMD's hot-rod 586/133 (160).

Please just e-mail me privately and not on the list, since this seems to be
bordering on off-topic.

Will we see a Linux kernel with selectable CPUs other than 486/Pentium/PPro?
