smbfs problem related to kernel version

I've contacted this mailing list, the samba mailing list, the smb newsgroup
and Volker Lendecke regarding serious problems I'm having with the SMB
filesystem related to recent (> 2.0.22) versions of the Linux kernel. With
the exception of one kind person who really couldn't help me, I've not heard
from anyone on this matter. Is no one interested in addressing this
problem?
