Mounting smb shares Win95-to-unix is a whole other story.
I've gotten a little further than the others commenting on this
feature. I can use smbmount/smbumount, do directory listings,
even read files reliably. This is due to using a patch in
smbfs-2.0.1.tar.gz for kernel 2.1.26.
However...
Reading then writing to a file (a la, using vi) can give disasterous
results. Beware!
Even copying one file to another gives the error:
cp: <filename>: I/O error
(But mv seems to be ok.)
When cp fails, it gives me a 0 length file saved on the Win95 box and
sets a nonsensical date.
If anyone has figured a workaround, please let me know.
Regards,
Buddy
P. S. - It doesn't work any better with kernel 2.0.29, either.
