Exactly my idea. There is a separate project that works on this, they have
a web page and everything. I've tried to contact them, but have not had
replies so far.

The mail I was replying to here was about preventing unneeded CD changes
on a SCSI CD changer though, and I thought it might be nice to make such
code more general to prevent unneeded changes on any kind of changer.

(Sidetrack) - Has it ever been considered to bring IDE ans SCSI under the
same driver model ? That could save a lot of maintenance. Drives could be
mapped to ID's and Changers could be mapped to LUN's. The 32bit windows
versions work this way, and it appears to work fine.
